Heritage Highlight: Discover the Civil War in Randolph County
The West Virginia Civil War Trails program invites you to explore the sites of America’s Civil War. Here in Randolph County you can find several sites of the Civil War’s early conflicts. These sites tell the story of how the war that divided the nation began and how it shaped our county and West Virginia. Interested in learning more? May is Motorcycle and Bicycle Awareness Month
Our twisty mountain roads and trails offer great riding for both locals and visitors. With warmer weather, riders will be anxious to get out. Whether you are a motorcyclist, bicyclist, or just a driver out on the road, be aware and pay attention to your surroundings to make the road safer for everyone. Read through the featured blogs below for cycling safety tips and biking opportunities in the area. The Darden Mill museums (The Appalachian Forest Discovery Center and the WV Railroad Museum) are open! The Discovery Center hours are 9:30-4:30 Thursday – Sunday and the Railroad Museum is open Friday – Sunday, 9:30-4:30.

Tickets for Durbin and Greenbrier Valley Railroad train excursions are now available. The Durbin Rocket, Cass Bald Knob, and Cass to Whittaker rides will begin later in May!

Upcoming Events

The Thursday Night Cruise-ins and Concerts will be beginning again on May 20th! Car shows will take place every Thursday and concerts will be held on select Thursdays.

The Elkins Farmer’s Market is scheduled to start in May. It will be at the town square amphitheater Saturday mornings.
