We have developed a wide variety of road tours and motorcycle routes depending on your interest. Our routes will take you back in time or bring you through charming small towns.

The Staunton-Parkersburg Turnpike is a National Scenic Byway that starts in Staunton, VA and bisects West Virginia on its way to Parkersburg, on the bank of the Ohio River. The turnpike played a critical role in the history of this area from bringing transportation into the mountains to being prized by both Union and Confederate armies during the Civil War as essential for control of western Virginia. Discover Civil War and heritage sites, arts and entertainment, outdoor recreation and scenic views along the Staunton-Parkersburg Turnpike. 

Discover Civil War history by exploring historic sites along West Virginia’s Civil War Trail. Follow the first campaign starting in Phillippi, the site of the first land battle. Travel down to Rich Mountain Battlefield and Beverly to learn more about the fight for control of the Staunton-Parkersburg Turnpike. Continue on to Cheat Summit Fort to see the site of Lee’s first battle under his command. Visit these sites and more along the Civil War Trails.
