The Elkins Depot provides a variety of events for the public throughout the year. The annual Ramps and Rail Festival is held on the last Saturday of April each year. Starting in November the Festival of Lights illuminates the town square! As a public service we provide brochures and pamphlets to all the 4th graders in the county for the West Virginia Scrapbook Project.
The Eighth Annual Ramps and Rail Festival will be held on April 30, 2016. For more information about this event go to the Ramps and Rail Festival page.
In November, to accompany the Polar Express, the Depot decorates the Town Square in holiday lights each year. The display is opened to the public and everyone is encouraged to enjoy the festive displays, which are kept lit until after the holidays. These lights have been a holiday tradition at the depot for many years. They include Santa and Mrs. Claus, candy canes, a dragon, and more!
Any Randolph County 4th grader who is in need of supplementary materials for their West Virginia Scrapbook Project is encouraged to come into the Depot to pick up a packet that contains past brochures of fairs and festivals, such as the Mountain State Forest Festival brochure and the West Virginia State Fair events schedule. Also, the Depot will try to provide any additional information that is needed, if possible.
